Everyone is welcome to this weekly practice of buddhist meditation; no previous experience necessary. Chairs and meditation cushions are available. Guru Rinpoche Tsok Text: Shower of Blessings No Empowerment required, open to all. This meditation practice invokes the blessings of Guru Padmasambhava, the meditation master who brought buddhism to Tibet. Next session: Tuesday May 26, 2026. No group practice this month. Chenrezig Tsok - full moon practice Text: The Natural Freedom of Samsara Empowerment required. This meditation practice focuses on Chenrezig (in Sanskrit: Avalokiteshvara), the expression of our own infinite potential for absolute compassion. The empowerment into this practice from Chagdud Rinpoche's family lineage was offered several times in Whitehorse and may be offered again. Next session: Friday May 1, 2026. Red Tara Tsok Text: Wish-Fulfilling Essence Empowerment required. This is an extensive meditation practice of Red Tara, the expression of our own pure awareness and compassion. The empowerment into this heart practice of Chagdud Rinpoche's was offered several times in Whitehorse and may be offered again. Next session: Tuesday May 12, 1:30 to 4 pm, 2026. New Moon Practice Text: Riwo Sangchod and Red Vajrasattva Fulfillment Rituals No Empowerment required. The new moon is considered an auspicious time for purification and refreshing our commitments as practitioners. Saturday May 16, 1:30 to 3:30 pm, 2026. |

Shamatha Meditation

Join us for shamatha (calm-abiding) meditation practice, a mind-training that uses diverse focusing techniques to help the mind settle and help the mind-owner notice its habitual patterns of distraction. This practice will be joined with exploration of fundamental Buddhist concepts. No experience necessary.

The Red Tara practice focuses on prayer, visualization, and mantra recitation evoking Tara, the visualized expression of our own infinite potential for pure awareness and compassion.
In-person Concise Red Tara practice
This concise practice, held in English, is open to all. Introduced by Chagdud Rinpoche for his western students as a doorway into Tibetan Buddhism, this short meditation practice develops awareness and compassion for all beings. Whether you are curious about Tibetan Buddhist meditation or would like to refresh or share your connection with this precious practice, let's do it together! Practice texts will be available on site.
