Summer News
* SUNDAY JUNE 7, KDCC builiding will be closed, so we will meet outside, by the picnic tables on the left side of the building, facing the river.
  •  WEEKLY PRACTICE Starting in June, we will gather on most Sundays* (except on Vista retreat days) at 10:30 in the Sacred Room of Kwanlin Dun’s Cultural Centre when it is available, or at an alternate venue if it is not. Please email your contact information if you want to be kept informed of this schedule as the website may not always be updated  in time to reflect last-minute changes.

  •  HALF-DAY RETREAT AT VISTA One Sunday per month, the beautiful property at Vista Learning Centre is kindly available to us for half-day meditation retreats. Planned dates are June 14, July 12, and August 9, from 1 to 4:30 pm. Please check back for updates.

  •  STUDY GROUP The next study group will meet online on Tuesday June 16 from 6:30 to 8 pm. See below for details.

  •  TRANSMISSION AND TEACHING ON CHENREZIG PRACTICE On Sunday June 28 at 10 am, His Holiness Kyabgon Gongma Trichen Rinpoche (the former 41st Sakya Trizen (head of the Sakya lineage)) will bestow the transmission of the Chenrezig practice titled “Filling Space to Benefit Beings.” This practice, which does not require empowerment, was taught here by Lama Padma, who strongly recommends attending in one format or another. This special teaching will take place in person in Seattle (now sold out), and will also be livestreamed on Zoom. Registration is available here. All are warmly encouraged to attend. Rick and Cheryk Buchan kindly offer to host a sangha gathering  to receive this online transmission and teaching!  For location, directions, and more info please email Vajra North (link here), use the contact form, or phone 667-6951. RSVP appreciated. The registration cost of US $125 can therefore be shared among participants, as means allow. This is a precious opportunity to receive teaching on Chenrezig from a true master.

  •  NGONDRO TEACHINGS From July 15 to 18, Tromge Jigme Rinpoche will teach on ngondro practice, and on how to approach deity meditation.  Everyone is welcome to attend; there are no prerequisites.  The ngondro consists of several practices foundational to the Vajrayana path. This is a great opportunity to receive in-depth and authentic teachings on contemplating the Four Thoughts, refuge, bodhichitta, as well as mandala offering, purification, and guru yoga. On-site participation includes empowerments that authorize the recipient to fully engage in the different phases of the practice. The empowerments, to be held on July 18, will not be livestreamed.
For those unable to attend in person, Rinpoche encourages online participation as a way to receive the oral transmission of the practices (lung in Tibetan) and the teachings. Online participants are then authorized to engage in the practices except for those that require empowerment, namely Vajrasattva purification and Guru Yoga.

This retreat takes place at Rinpoche’s centre in California (atiling.org), a few hours by bus north of the San Francisco airport. More details and registration here. Everyone is warmly encouraged to receive these essential teachings from an authentic lama. Feel free to reach out to Vajra North if you would like to discuss this any further.
